Some big games and big results this week - we now have no winless teams and no undefeated teams.
The NFL also had its fair share of big games and big plays. Perhaps there was no bigger game this week than Miami v Houston - not your typical exciting match-up, but it might go some way to explaining why all of a sudden Miami players are leading the scoring this week. IIRC, in the first 6 minutes or so of the game Miami had put up like 28 points to 0, and by the half were 41-0. At one point, Miami had 28 points on the board and the Texans still had zero yards of offence. They would win 43-26 in the end. Only three weeks ago Miami sacked their Head Coach, promoted a young, untested Coach and in two games have put up over 80 points in two wins. Suck it, previous coach.
This week the Dolphins face the Patriots, who are 6-0 on the season and not looking overly challenged by anyone. The final score for them this week was 30-23 against the Jets, but the score is favourable to the Jets who in the second half were really not in the game.
How about some big plays? Can we go past Gronk? No we cannot:
How about some rookie action:
And a little Calvin Johnson action:
Marcy (127) def BB (121)
The battle of the heavy weights certainly lived up to expectations. The knock-out blow? The Rams defence - a huge 25 points! Marcy takes the game, the top of the Standings, and cuts BB down to size, all without Rogers and Jeffrey's playing.
Ok, so this happened, in last week's post I said: "Danny Woodhead is projected at 21 points. Who set that, Mrs Woodhead?" Funny thing, Woodhead put up 22.1 points. As I was obviously suggesting at the time, Mrs Woodhead has a history of grossly underestimating her son's fantasy potential and should have, obviously, expected more, like this writer. And unlike this writer, she should be ashamed of herself. I totally called it.
Forces (102) def Zim (79)
Solid week from The General's troops this week with no particular stand-outs but no losers either. Well, except maybe Hopkins, who we gave a big shout-out to last week but had nothing going this week. Not his fault, the entire Texans team was woeful. Zim is rocking one of the best QBs this year, in actual games and fantasy - my god I love watching Tom Brady work. Too bad the other stars on the team checked out this season, but it was good seeing Lynch be dominant. Matthews was a good Free Agency pick-up in a week when Miami played lights out in the first half.
Breesus (137) def Lighties (110)
If you say you thought Breesus would post a 137 I'll call you a liar - no one saw this coming. Lamar Miller, 35 points. Wow! The win puts Breesus a game over .500 at 4-3, and staying within striking distance. The Lighties dropped the game but are also 4-3, BToP had another big game and another loss - the Chargers are so crazy. Washington was 24-0 down before mounting a comeback to steal the game from the Buccaneers, helped in large part by Reed's 2TDs and 19 points. Huge effort.
Endless (84) def Farnsworth's (61)
I said Endless needed to kick Farnsworth's while he was down and boy did she put the boot in! The win was her first W of the season and was in no small part thanks to Rookie of the Year candidate Todd Gurley: 28 points and making plenty of Rams fans happy. The Farn's got nothing going this week with all big guns held in check by the opponents. I worry that Matty Ryan is on the slide after a great start to the season, the Falcons are pretty weird.
Doof (96) def Agent P (88)
Another tough one for Agent P, the other QB (Luck) would have won her the game and her premier RB (Foster) is out for the season with a torn Achilles. With RB's in short supply its a big loss. I really have nothing else to add about this match-up, another Dour Doof Affair.
